North Wind

Stepmother’s-breath
hissing through barren boughs
dispensing discontent,
cold as a witch’s kiss.

Scandalmonger of the fields,
grips ragweed by the forelock
to lay across the line
and beat away the dirt.

Hickory switch, finger wagging
at a giggle of snowflakes
leapfrogging through ochre fields
and playing knock-knock—

upon her parlor door.

Most memorable short story?

Honestly, i cannot think of my favorite short story. With the exception of The Raven, which i didn't really like. However, i will share my favorite fairy tale. My favorite fairy tale happens to be the three little pigs. I was always very entertained by the story, and its morales.

Do you think that young people today value their education as much as sara smolinsky does? why or why not?

I think young people today take their education for granted and don't see it as a valuable asset. Today, the youth of America values school by the amount of homework or effort you must put in to achieve success. With homework and effort comes time. This is the ultimate factor when it comes to enjoying school. In modern times people want more for less, however time must be put into an education in order to be successful.

"There's nothing hard about writing. All you have do is sit down and open up a vein." -Walter Smith
As a writer, I do not agree with this statement because I find that writing comes easily once started. I find that ideas flow freely when I start writing. I find that if I keep my pen moving I can knock out an essay of exceptional quality in an hour.

The bread givers

Currently, my group has finished chapters 1-5. I am very pleased to find myself entertained at every point of the novel. From the first few chapters the fathers dedication to his religion, even to the point of neglecting the needs of the family really caught my attention. At first i thought his behavior would change, and his wife would reprimand him. I was extremely surprised to find out how controlling the father is, and how much respect he garners from his family. However i expect this will soon change because the family can not live on the meager wages of the girls.
